The Grand Rapids Jaycees have been taking part in the Relay for Life sponsored by the American Cancer Society since 2005. The Relay for life is a 24-hour walk at Ah-Nab-Awen Park in Grand Rapids on May 14 – May 15, 2010. Teams and participants raise money for the American Cancer Society.

Until the day of the event, we will be holding various fundraisers to raise money for this event. Our next fundraiser is the Glamour Getaway on April 28. McFadden's Restaurant-Saloon 58 Ionia Avenue SW, Grand Rapids Come join us for a vendor expo to help raise money for a great cause! Admission is $10.00 and includes light appetizers, 15% discount on all food, and drink specials that include $2 Bud Light 55, $3 house wines, and $5 Glamourtinis, prizes and giveaways! With each admission, you will also receive a 2 week free gym membership to Endurance Fitness, a bowling pass from Wengers, and a free Appetizer card for McFadden's, to be used on another date. Vendors helping to make this event a success include Mary Kay, Party Lite, Endurance Fitness, ALL CERT, Pure Romance, Tastefully Simple and Lia Sophia. Event will be held at McFadden's from 6pm to 9pm. All food discounts and drink specials will begin at 5:00. In addition to the many great activities provided by the American Cancer Society, we are bringing back the Inflatable Joust, sponsored by ACP Entertainment, and introducing Face Flair by fellow Jaycee member Kim Torres. As some of you may be aware, our chapter president Matt Sernau has challenged us to raise $1000.00 for him to participate as team Grand Rapids Jaycees "Miss Relay" during the notorious Miss Relay Pageant held during the Relay for Life activities on the May 14, 2010. We are very excited for him to support the Relay for Life effort in this way. Today, I found out, that he has decided up the ante per say -- raise $2,000 and he will SHAVE HIS LEGS! To participate in the Miss Relay Pageant, we are asking for donations via cash or check as online donations will not go toward this activity.
